These comprise significant Bohemical texts, written in Czech, which were identified in 1851 by Beda Dud\u00edk during his research in Swedish libraries, specifically in the National Library of Sweden in Stockholm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Protracted negotiations concerning their restitution began in 1875 and were successfully concluded thanks to Dud\u00edk\u2019s personal and friendly relations with Gustav Edvard Klemming, then Director of the National Library of Sweden. With the consent of the Swedish parliament, King Oscar II donated in 1878 to the government in Vienna a collection of twenty-one Czech manuscripts and two printed books; as a symbolic counter-gift, the Swedish side received a set of luxurious contemporary prints of Austrian provenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beda Dud\u00edk personally received the manuscripts in Stockholm on 7 June 1878.
